WATER VALUATIONS

Water valuations provide owners and others with information about the value of a particular water resource. An accurate appraisal of value is important to the management of any asset and water is no exception.

National Water Traders has over 40 years experience in the irrigation industry. Our valuations reflect both historical sales data and current market conditions, improving our accuracy particular in areas with low trading volumes. We provide our valuation services promptly and cost effectively.

PERMANENT WATER SALES

A permanent sales is the transfer of a water allocation permanently. Permanent transfers give buyers the confidence to invest in their infrastructure, knowing that they have secured the water they need to use it fully. In many areas, the permanent sale market is a seller's market with multiple buyers looking to secure the water they want.

Permanent transfers require registration with the NSW Land Registry and take a little longer to process. National Water Traders will handle all administration and conveyancing at highly competitive rates.

TEMPORAY WATER TRADES

TEMPORARY WATER TRADES

A temporary trade is the transfer of a water allocation for a specific irrigation season. A trade moves an allocation from one user's water account to another. Temporary trades allow for great flexibility for both buyer and seller. Temporary trades can be made quickly and efficiently.

Temporary trades allow the water asset owner to retain future use of the resource, while ensuring that they maximise the short-term return. Temporary trade markets, however, can be limited in some management zones. Because most water assets require significant investment in infrastructure to use effectively, many buyers would prefer to purchase water with greater security (either through a permanent transfer or long-term leasing), knowing that they have secured the water resources needed to justify their investment in infrastructure over the longer term. For this reason, permanent sales and long-term leasing can often be more attractive to buyers.

LONG-TERM LEASING

Long-term leasing allows for longer-term planning by both buyers and sellers, but requires less up-front capital investment by the buyer and allows the owner to retain long-term control of the asset.

In some circumstances, long-term leasing can lower up-front capital investment while allowing a user to increase production substantially. Knowing that they water is secured long-term allows for better forward planning by the buyer, while creating a long-term income stream for the owner of the water asset.
